Water is an integral part of your body and its importance to your health cannot be underestimated. In your body, water is a transporter for nutrients, acts as a solvent for minerals, amino acids, and some sugars, and helps to cleanse your tissues and blood of waste. Water participates in chemical reactions, serves as a shock absorber inside your eyes, spinal cord, and joints, and helps maintain our body temperature. Water is critical to a healthy immune system.
When you have high blood pressure or bad cholesterol, drinking water can play an important role because:
- Water improves blood flow and keeps your blood clean, allowing your blood to move easier through arteries
- Some blood pressure medicines, especially diuretics, can cause dehydration and your body needs water to hydrate and maintain balanc

- Water is known to be a natural appetite suppressant; sometimes people mistake hunger for thirst so make sure you are always well hydrated. Drink as much pure water as you can and avoid soda. If you are already thirsty, then you are dehydrated.

- Always have water when exercising
