Cancer is not one, but many diseases, which occur when cells grow and divide irregularly, then invade, destroy, or alter adjacent tissues, and possibly spread to other parts of your body. Incredible progress has been made in early detection and treatment, which have transformed some cancers into very curable diseases. Genetics seem to play a minor role in most cancers, as do viral infections. The two main cancer culprits seem to be lifestyle choices and environmental factors.
